Celebrating Innovation and Winning “Editor’s Pick” at Maker Faire Bay Area
Monday June 5, 2017
At the end of May, we joined 150,000 engineers and hobbyists at Maker Faire Bay Area to do what we do best — connect people and encourage family togetherness. With Ohmni, we showcased how we bridge large and small distances to bring people together with those who matter most.
One big highlight for us was winning the “Editor’s Pick” blue ribbon. The blue ribbon is awarded to projects that inspire and awe the crowds. Ohmni definitely lived up to those expectations as it roamed the venue floor gathering attention and excitement from attendees.
Throughout the 3-day event, we also focused on youth outreach to teach future engineers the science behind our technology. We helped them understand the concepts required to develop the world we hope they’ll one day live in, one with affordable robots in every home, connecting families around the globe instantaneously.
“It’s like you’re really there!”. That was what most people said after they tried Ohmni out for themselves. We were overjoyed to hear this feedback because that’s what we built Ohmni for: to be there with your loved ones even when you live far away. And with Ohmni, “there” is any city, in any country, on any continent.
This summer, we’ll be bringing more people together. On June 24, we’ll be at Facebook’s Summer Food & Fan Fest, and we hope you’ll be there too, visiting our booth, having fun with Ohmni and our team!
